    Score

This Annual, which has 64-pages of content, has a copyright statement that says that it is a reprint of the 2000 AD edition (that’s the year 2000 AD, not the comic book called 2000AD, just to be clear), which in turn was a reprint of an American edition from 1997. However, there doesn’t seem to be anything inside that makes it feel dated at all, so if you know a Captain Underpants fan, the chances are that he/she is not old enough to remember the earlier edition… Anyway, there are the usual puzzles, jokes and activities you’d expect from a traditional Christmas Annual, along with a serialised 17-page comic book story featuring Dog Man, and an imaginative (and quite educational!) story that requires you to fill in missing words (with guides for grammar and directions for the type of word required) and draw some pictures.

Author

Pilkey is best known as the author and illustrator of the Captain Underpants book series. He also uses the pen names George Beard and Harold Hutchins, which are the names of two of the main characters in the aforementioned series
